According to a Former Employee Ranjit Bajaj’s leadership and the knowledge he shared with his Coaches was instrumental to winning titles in Youth as well as Senior level.
Harpreet Bedi who worked for Minerva Punjab under Ranjit Bajaj’s Leadership praised Bajaj for his contribution to Indian Football on his Youtube channel’s latest video.
Ranjit Bajaj, who has been a subject of controversy for his views and actions involving Indian Football, recently sold his club for a profit to RoundGlass in a very rare happening in India. Minerva Punjab, in their short history in Indian Football, have been very successful at both Junior and Senior levels winning every title that was up for grabs. Some people have been critical of Bajaj on how he managed his football club in past but one of his former employees Harpreet Bedi, who has represented India at the Junior levels and himself played for Minerva Punjab, came in his support on his Youtube Channel.
“I worked with him since it started, as a player and as a coach. The whole country knows what Minerva Academy have done. From participating in the 2nd division, then qualifying for the I-League and then winning the I-League which is a hugh championship and then going on to win all the youth titles. Right? Not even once but many many times. U-15 title 4-times, U-13 once and U-18 once.”, Bedi said.
Minerva Punjab have claimed that they produced 72 players(Senior and Junior levels) for the National side. Many people say that Minerva cannot claim every player that has ever played for them as their only because players usually shift clubs year on year basis so it’s not right for a club to exclusively claim a player while ignoring his previous and later clubs. Bedi said it’s not that simple. Minerva provided a platform for these players to shine which lead to them being picked by national selectors.
“Of course, It’s not like a player played once for Minerva and now he is only their player but Minerva Punjab did contribute. They got picked up (after representing Minerva Punjab) and that’s what a player wants. A player wants a platform and the training. He(Ranjit Bajaj) has set a standard there for players who come in. So randomly people cannot come in and if I said I want to play for East Bengal and Manchester United, no one can walk in and play. Right?
“I don’t know much about other clubs in India like clubs in Goan football or West Bengal or in South. I know about Ranjit Bajaj because I have worked with him and that’s where I started my coaching career. I got motivated by what he did. Playing there and getting promoted to a bigger club that’s what a player wants. Every player wants a progression. Not only players even coaches also. Look at coach Sachin who is now with Bengaluru FC. Look at the physios(who previously worked in Minerva Punjab), two of them were last in East Bengal. So they are doing good job and everyone is improving.”, Bedi expressed in his video.
Bedi continues to talk about what happened in meetings inside Bajaj’s office with coaches and other club staff. You can watch the full video by clicking the source link below:
