FC Goa announced that they have extended midfielder Lenny Rodrigues’ contract by two years. This will keep him in the club till the end of the 2022 season.
The midfielder has been duly rewarded for having been instrumental for FC Goa for the past two seasons, where the Gaurs made it to the ISL finals and won the Super Cup in the 2018-19 season as well as when they won the League Shield to qualify for the AFC Champions League in the previous season.
On his extension, the 33-year-old said, “The last two seasons have been amazing for me. We won a lot of games. We won the Super Cup and the ISL League Winners Shield. We all want to build on that.”
“I am already excited for the next season. It’s a new chapter and we get to play in the AFC Champions League as well. I am looking forward to it all,” he added in the statement issued by the club.
Lenny has been a part of all six seasons of ISL, playing for FC Pune City and Bengaluru FC before moving to Goa before the 2018-19 campaign. But, the ISL trophy has eluded him both at Bengaluru and FC Goa where the teams have fallen just short in the finals.
Having topped the table in the previous season and playing the ACL, both the Gaurs and Lenny would be itching to get their hands on the ISL trophy.
