Bengaluru FC have completed the signing of two new foriegn players on the deadline day. Carles Caudrat side is getting ready to battle for the title this season. The club has managed to retain their core side for the new edition of Indian Super League. However, they have added some new additions in their foreign quota.
The Blues managed to retain the services of Juanan, Paartalu, Brown and Dimas Delgado from last season. The club did bid adieu to their defender from last season Albert Serrano yesterday. The management have roped in Fran Gonzalez to replace Serrano in their side. Fran Gonzalez was one of the key player for Mohun Bagan in their I-League triumph.
The Spanish defensive midfielder can play as a centre-back as well if needed. His addition to the Bengaluru side will be certainly be a boost to the entire squad. He brings lot of strength in the middle of the park by his presence. Last season he made a total of 16 appearances for the Kolkata giants in which he managed to score 10 goals.
The defensive all-rounder managed to grab an assist to his name as well. He was really instrumental for Kibu Vicuna last season in I-League. However, he might be played at the back alongside Juanan. Other signing on the deadline day for the Blues was Norwegian forward Kristian Opseth. The centre-forward hails from Norway and will come to India after a season-long stint in A-League with Adelaide United.
Kristian Opseth- The Long-range Specialist
Opseth is known for his long-rangers and pinpoint set pieces. Bengaluru FC had a perfect number-9 striker back in 2018-19 season in the name of Miku. The club is yet to find an replacement for him in Kanteerava. The main problem last season was the lack of goals up front. Sunil Chhetri was the go-to man for goals last season for Benglauru FC.
Caudrat will be expecting Opseth to score more goals in the upcoming season. However, the Norwegian forward will be a backup option for Cleiton Silva. The Thai League legend will be hoping to hit the ground running in India soon. Both the deadline day signings have signed an year-long contract with the club.
